"I have been in the Meals on Wheels Program since 2017 until now. The staff and drivers act like the client is family and also work as a professional team making sure all of their clients and me are doing good. I look forward every day for my meals and having friendly chats with the driver that brings my meal every day. Thank you so much Meals on Wheels staff and drivers"

Speak Up For Older Adults!

New Hampshire faces challenges, ranking second-highest in median age in the nation, after Maine.

New Hampshire is experiencing a rapid increase in the number of older adults with that number expected to double over the next 20 years.

Just in New Hampshire Alone:

 20%

of the population is over the age of 60.

 28%

More than 1 in 4 adults suffer from depression and isolation

Of the 1,400,000 NH residents  an estimated  280,000 people are over the age of 60  and around  78,000 of these neighbors are suffering from depression and isolation.

Hunger and Isolation are Serious Issues for Older Adults.

Our nation's older adult population is growing exponentially, outpacing the resources available to serve vulnerable older adults and putting their health and well-being in jeopardy. Meals on Wheels is a proven partnership that effectively addresses the challenges of aging by promoting health and improving quality of life for at-risk older adults. Please see fact sheet below for relevant statistics on older adults and visit the Meals on Wheels America Advocacy Page for additional advocacy steps you can take to support Meals on Wheels!

Protecting Older Workers Against Discrimination Act

Today, Americans are working more and longer than they ever have. When older workers lose their jobs, they are far more likely than other workers to join the ranks of the long-term unemployed. And unfortunately, discrimination appears to be a significant factor in older workers’ long-term unemployment. Protecting Older Workers Against Discrimination Act (POWADA) ensures that older workers have the protections they need. POWADA was passed by Congress in June 2021, but has stalled in the Senate. You can read more about POWADA and the lawsuit that led to a setback for age discrimination cases here.
